Vanessa Adkinson, M.S., is the Founder and CEO of P31 Home, a crisis navigation and safety planning consulting company built to serve as a trusted space where helpers go for help. With a Master’s in Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and Human Services, she supports individuals, families, and professionals navigating complex and often overwhelming situations involving trauma, mental health, addiction, abuse, domestic violence, human trafficking, and life transitions, all rooted in community, advocacy, mentorship, and philanthropy. She also serves in advisory and leadership roles with multiple nonprofits and community groups, further strengthening collaboration and impact across the communities she serves.
Vanessa is also a published author and speaker, known for her work on topics such as what love is and what love is not, understanding the cycle of domestic violence, and from victim to survivor. Her approach helps people make sense of trauma, domestic violence, and sexual assault from different places of healing, offering clarity in situations that often feel overwhelming. She has a unique ability to connect with individuals in crisis in real life environments just as naturally as she connects with professionals in corporate and leadership settings.
Vanessa previously served as a police officer from 2012 to 2025 before medically retiring, with experience in patrol, investigations, SWAT crisis negotiations, mobile mental health response, domestic violence expertise, and community outreach. This is likely where she developed many of the skills she carries into her work today, including the ability to connect with people in high stress, high stakes situations and help guide them toward clarity and safety. Her career reflects a deep commitment to public service, supporting individuals in crisis, and bridging the gap between law enforcement and community based care.
She began her service career in the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably from 2006 to 2010, where she earned multiple awards, including two Navy Achievement Medals, for her leadership, accountability, and operational excellence. During her military service, she also played an important role in training and supporting Marines in preparation for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Vanessa is best known for sitting down with a glass of iced coffee and asking everyone one simple question: how can I help?
