2026 Pikes Peak Domestic Violence Summit

Thursday October 29, 2026 10:15am - 11:15am MDT
Technology has transformed how teenagers communicate, connect, and express affection. However, it has also created new, invisible avenues for control, harassment, and surveillance. Constant exposure to online sexually explicit material and aggressive content skews a teen's perception of healthy relationships and may lead them to misinterpret controlling online behavior as love or affection. Misogynistic influencer culture further normalizes and encourages toxic relationship dynamics. Self-creation content platforms and Gen AI companions are blurring boundary lines and confusing young people's understanding of consent. Evidence shows online digital violence often escalates to in person abuse and violence. Through real-world case studies, current trends, and data, we will decode the subtle red flags of tech-based relationship abuse and examine the complex world of teen digital coercion. Attendees will leave with practical, trauma-informed strategies to guide teens toward building healthier digital connections.
